DURABLE MATERIALS
Stainless steel is a food-safe and pollutant-free material and therefore completely harmless to human health. Stainless steel is not only relatively light-weight and stable, but also 100% recyclable. Compared to plastic, stainless steel offers less breeding ground for bacteria and germs. No BPA is used in its production: Stainless steel is permanently resistant to releasing harmful substances that could contaminate foodstuffs.
Tritan is a particularly strong and durable plastic that offers many advantages over conventional plastic. The patented and harmless to health Tritan™ is free of the chemical basic substance BPA, softeners or other harmful residues. It is very robust, light-weight and unlike plastic, virtually odorless and tasteless. It is also dishwasher safe, which is a great advantage especially for children’s drinking bottles.
Silicone is a polymer with a particularly long shelf life. Unlike conventional plastics, silicone does not consist of petroleum, but of silicon, which is obtained from sand for example, as well as from oxygen, carbon and hydrogen. In contrast to most types of plastic, it does not contain softeners, can withstand very high and low temperatures, is tear-resistant. UV-resistant and also water-repellent. Silicones are very well tolerated, BPA-free and recyclable. Its flexibility and insensitivity make it ideal for children’s products.
Lycra is an extremely stretchable textile fiber that behaves similar to rubber, but has a much higher durability. These properties make Lycra particularly suitable for all garments that are worn next to the skin and must stretch with every movement. In addition, the textile fiber is characterized by low moisture absorption and permanent shape retention. The use of LYCRA® XTRA LIFE™ from INVISTA in swimwear, ensures that it lasts up to ten times longer than traditional elastane materials. The unique technology provides high resistance to chlorine, UV rays and unsaturated fatty acids found in sunscreen products, body oils and perspiration.
Porcelain belongs to the fine ceramics family. It is particularly appreciated for its valued material properties when handling food. Porcelain is resistant to acids and virtually cut-resistant and scratch proof. It has a hygienically smooth and hard-wearing glaze that retains its shine for decades. Last but not least, porcelain is absolutely dishwasher-safe and can be easily and completely cleaned of food and beverage residues.
